On a fall Michigan day in 1988, Dayna began a journey that would take her all over the world. She was only 3 years old and if you asked her then what she wanted to be when she grew up, 9 times out of 10 she would say, “Jessica Rabbit”. Her parents weren’t surprised when she took the stage, and never wanted to leave. She loved to entertain and make people smile. It was surprising however, to see that although she had remarkable stage presence, the steps did not come easily. Dayna had to work hard to keep her feet from getting ahead of everything and everyone, but at the time, the only person looking at her feet was her dance teacher. The rest of the audience couldn’t take their eyes off of her face!

   It was Dayna’s drive and determination that finally earned her a spot in the Dynamic Dancers Performing Company in Michigan. Her teacher could see her commitment to dance and helped her to work toward her goal of becoming a professional dancer. She recommended attending every regional dance convention possible to learn to pick up many different styles of choreography. Dayna attended LADM, WCDE, NYCDA, LADF, DEA, ADA, Showbiz, Tremaine, and Encore consistently. By the time she was 14, Dayna was spending her summers training in LA, NYC, and Orlando, working with the best teachers and choreographers. Things were starting to fall into place for her and all of a sudden at age 15 she broke through…it all came together!

   After much thought and consideration, Dayna made the decision to turn down her college dance scholarship and start auditioning. One month after her high school graduation Dayna set sail with Royal Caribbean as a dancer. It was a great experience and she learned a lot from it. She loved traveling and was able to meet people from all over the world. Next came a gig at Harrah’s casino in St. Louis…another learning and growing experience. Now it’s on to Busch Gardens in Tampa for another new show!

   Dayna has never forgotten the help and advice she has received from her parents and teachers. The lessons were not always easy, but were always in her best interest. Her appreciation grows with every new obstacle she conquers. By remembering where you came from and realizing how far you’ve come, it seems that nothing can stand in the way of your goals!

   Fortunately, and with the never-ending love and support of her family, Dayna has been able to pursue her dreams. She supports herself with a career she loves, and is continuing to entertain and make people smile. What more could you ask for?
